MERCURY

Items that contain mercury, such as thermometers, thermostats, switches, and some light bulbs, should be brought to our Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) Collection Center at 2151 Gypsum Hollow Road for safe disposal.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources identifies mercury as a hazardous material that can harm human health and the environment if released. These items should never be placed in the trash, crushed, or poured down drains.

Please keep mercury-containing items intact and bring them in a sealed container to prevent leaks or breakage during transport.
