How to Recycle Your Vape

Please DO NOT throw vapes in the trash or recycling!

Improperly disposing of vapes can cause fires, chemical leaks, and environmental hazards.

1.   Return Vapes to the Business Where You Purchased Them

Many vape retailers participate in safe take-back or disposal programs.

2.   Iowa Drug Take Back Program (Nicotine-Only Disposal)

The Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy provides locations where you can safely dispose of nicotine from vapes.

Important:

  • This program can take nicotine waste only
  • It cannot accept vape batteries

If your device allows it and it’s safe:

   Remove the nicotine.

Place it in a zip-top bag.

   Clearly label the bag “Nicotine.”

Drop it off at any Take Back location.
